So much fun, and for Audrey too!

We do a weekly playdate on Mondays at Aunt Jill's house. Jill is one of my closest friends. Christian and her husband and all our boys are all best buddies too. Works well.

Anyway, Jill has the cool big house with a big yard, and so graciously invites some of us over every Monday for a giant playdate. Bunches of fun.

Today was especially great because:

1)The kiddos have gotten quite good at playing together without too much mommy interference and the mommies got a decent amount of time to talk today. I almost felt normal.

2)Jen made really yummy scones. Um, I think I ate 3 of them. She said they were healthy though.

3) Most of us made it over there today. Often, it is just Jill and our boys and myself, as sickness, travel, etc. can get in the way. Lately, more have been able to make it.

4)Tomi came with Skylar, who is Audrey's age. Yes, that is right Audrey had a friend. It was cute! They were staring at each other and smiling. Instant friends!

She actually has a few friends now...well in the kind of I hope they will be her friends sort of friend way. Huh? You see, Audrey gets carted around to all of Caleb's activities. We always play with Caleb's friends, whose mommies happen to be my friends too. Well, thakfully MaryJoyce had a baby a month after me, and Tomi a month before, and there are two gals at my table in MOPS (I just joined) that have daughters born within a week of Audrey. So yea! She is finally going to start having friends.

I have no idea!

Picture Caleb, bewildered look on his face, hands in the air, "Mom, I have no idea!"

This is his new answer to some of the questions I ask. The first time he said it... a few days ago, I found it incredibly funny, and laughed uncontrollably. Well, I think Caleb took that to mean that he should add that statement to his repertoire of funny sayings. I am impressed with the usage he has found for it, using the phrase several times a day, and he uses it in context every time.

He is getting taller. He had a growth spurt a week or two ago (had to go buy new pants as his were looking like he was preparing for floods) and Christian noted tonight that Caleb can now reach the light in the bathroom.

Caleb: "Dad, I got up on my tippy toes."

Christian: "Caleb, where did you learn tippy-toes?"

Caleb: "I have no idea." Picture cute smile and bewildered look.

He is a smarty pants, that is for sure... in a good and funny way that is. :)

Brother and Sister?

Nope, cousins. Christian and I think that they look the most alike of all the cousins though. Caleb looks more like his eldest cousin Bethany, than his own sister. They make similar facial expressions too. I remember when Bethany was the only cousin. I was dating Christian at the time and she was motivation to marry him! I see Caleb now and he does and says things that I remember Bethany doing and saying. It is pretty special. They play really well together too, even though she is 6 years older. She is a great eldest cousin (their are 9 on the Schalesky side) and we are so thankful for her!

Bethany and Joelle came for Lily's 1st Birthday. The rest of the Schalesky cousins were sick, but we got this cute pick.

Happy Birthday Lily!

Valentine's Day

Had a nice Valentine's Day this year. Starting with heart shaped breakfast, preset opening for the kids, and a date for Christian and I (Audrey tagged along). After the date, Caleb, Audrey, and Christian took a nap, while I checked out some houses (the escrow we are in is contingent on a lot of things). First time I have been without both kids for two hours since Audrey was born. It was nice. However, I was sick when I came home and Christian's wonderful plan for dinner was scrapped for a more plain dinner to appease my nausea. The morning was great though! I LOVE my husband, Caleb, and Audrey. Happy Valentine's Day!

At Breakfast Today

Setting: Caleb is eating his oatmeal and drinking his orange juice, asking lot's of questions, as usual. Mommy is sitting down to eat her breakfast, tea and peanut butter toast.

Caleb: Mommy, what is that? Your tea?
Mommy: Yes, it is my tea.
Caleb: You like it Mom? Is it good?
Mommy: Yes, I like it.
Caleb: Where is your wine?
Mommy: (Laughs) I only drink wine at dinner time.
Caleb: Why?
Mommy: Well, it is tastes good with dinner food, but not so good with breakfast food. And, it is better to drink it at the end of the day, not at breakfast.
Caleb: Mom, I am going to be a big boy someday and I am going to drink my wine when I am older, at dinner time.
Mommy: (Laughing again) Really? Well, you have to be a man to drink wine. It is only for adults.
Caleb: I am going to drink wine when I am a man, at dinner time.
Mommy: Okay, Caleb.

Roll Over

Accident? I think not... Brilliant? Of course?

Think what you want, but Audrey rolled over today! See?

Tummy Time

Audrey HATES tummy time. I am lucky if I can get a full minute out of her before she starts screaming. Caleb used to LOVE tummy time. This is just one of the many differences we have noted between our two kiddos. It is interesting to see the similarities and differnces. The best of all being, that Audrey is already sleeping through the night. Considering Caleb didn't sleep through the night till he was 16 months old, that is my favorite differnce thus far! Anyway, here are some cute tummy time photos, snapped quickly... and you cna see the yell a comin. :)

Rainy Day Helper

With all this rain, Caleb needed a good indoor activity. He enjoys baking, and he is good at cleaning up after too! We had a fun time. What a cutie huh?

Sister!, Smiles, and Cousin Lily

I realized today that it has been awhile since I have taken pics of the kids, and even longer since I have blogged about them! So, I grabbed the camera and snapped some photos of the two of the greatest gifts in my life. And cousin Lily came over tonight too. Enjoy :)

Caleb LOVES his sister. I am so thankful. When I pulled out the camera, Caleb was thrilled.

Audrey needed a little convincing to smile though...

Smiles!
Audrey has the sweetest smile. It creeps up... starts in her eyes, then an upturn at the sides of her mouth, and turns into a full on gummy grin, sometimes with a tongue! I LOVE it when she smiles. She is most smiley in the morning, when watching brother, and when Daddy comes home.

Happy Birthday Auntie Melody!

My sister-in-law had her B-day today and her wonderful hubby arranged for us to watch Lily (yippee!) and took Mel to Bouchon, one of the nicest restaurants in town (well done Nate). Lily is almost one (in 13 days actually) and such a joy. We love her. Caleb spent our entire dinner to try and get Lily to talk. In the end, it worked. Here are the Santa Barbara Schalesky cousins (6 more in Salinas/Gilroy).
